Landscapes in Watercolor
So this is the progress of my simple watercolor painting of a landscape based on the picture from the Artist's Magazine.
- Firstly, i did a quick sketch of the whole landscape using a black pilot ink pen. Just a rough sketch, i dont really like to sketch in details.
- Secondly, quickly apply lightest blue. Brush lightly, using a little bit of water. not too much water..or else u will spoil the paper. Leave the white space for the clouds and lighting effect on the water of the river.
- Next, apply the dark blue color lightly, for the darker area.
- More dark blue color..but this time overlaying the previous dark blue. This is to show a much more darker area.
- Now it's time to apply the yellow color for the leaves, grass, jungle.
- Next, apply the light green onto some part of the yellow area to show the darker side.
- Next will be applying more green color, where most of the part are much more greener.
- Now apply the dark green for the parts where it is much darker.
- Finally, apply black color for the darker tones and for the shadows.
This is such an easy exercise. If you do more practice, the more satisfying the outcomes will be. I believe in the sayings "Practice makes perfect". Even if it's not perfect..but at least you will see how progressive you will be. Have a try!
